Below are some ideas for what is needed for on camping trips. We do have some gear to loan, and if you have extra gear please let us know as we have started a gear loaner list. If you need gear, please let us know and we will do our best to help.
tent for your family
sleeping bags or sheets and blankets
whatever you are using to sleep on: mats, cots, air mattress, etc
personal items (clothes, tooth brush, etc)
a mesh bag to hang dishes
reusable dishes and cutlery for each member of your family camping (we do not use disposable dishes or cups)
water bottle for each member of your family camping
coffee cup (if you are a coffee drinker)
flashlight or headlamp
hats
sunscreen
day pack/small backpack for hikes with 6 essentials
camp chairs
special foods for allergies or snacks
battery powered fan
thermacell
tarp
folding table
canopy
bug spray
rope
carabiners
lantern
rain gear
warm clothes (depending on the weather)
outdoor games or board games
The pack will provide all food, cooking gear, stoves, etc. for the camp out and the price of that is included in the price of the camping trip unless otherwise noted. Remember we are a Pack, don't worry if you forgot something - it is likely someone else will have remembered it!
You MUST have medical forms filled out for every participant who will be attending the campouts (adults, siblings, and scouts) with a copy of their insurance card.
Pack 224 requires all adults that plan to go on trips with the Pack to take Youth Protection Training (YPT). This can be found on https://www.scouting.org/training/youth-protection/. This training takes about 1 hour and is all online. Please submit your certificate to the pack email when you are complete and tell us which scout you are related to.
As part of the BSA camping policy, no adults including leaders can sleep in any tent with children unless they are part of their family. Children who are Webelos age and up can sleep in a tent together; however, the children must be of the same gender.
Please review our pack Code of Conduct for Pack Outings/Camping Trips. Highlights of this policy include the following:
no alcohol or non-prescription drug use on Pack outings or camping trips
electronics policy that will include electronics for children only in tents and adults are to limit use as much as possible
smoking allowed but must be done away from scouts
only closed toed shoes on outings and campouts (except in swimming or shower areas)
